Via Ottimista (the path of the Optimist) was conceived by restaurateur Bertil Jean-Chronberg of The Beehive
and Beat Brasserie
, wine importer/wholesaler Todd Verhoeven of Café Europa
and winemaker Stephen Dooley of Stephen Ross Wine Cellars
. Their intent was to use their years of experience in the wine business to make a top-notch wine whose proceeds would support Pediatric Hematology and Oncology through Team Path to the Cure and the PMC. Bertil and Todd are also PMC riders for Team Path. Via Ottimista is also their way of sharing their passion for the noble Nebbiolo varietal.
TEAM PATH TO THE CURE
Team Path to the Cure is a special team within the PMC, comprised of 20 dedicated individuals from around Boston and beyond, who are committed to making a significant impact on research and education in pediatric oncology so that children with cancer can live the lives of their dreams. To date, they have raised over a million dollars for pediatric cancer treatment and research. (You can find out more about the team and its dedicated crew of riders at teampathtothecure.org
.) It is important to note that 100% of the team’s sponsorship funds go to Pediatric Hematology and Oncology.
Local artist Jordan Piantedosi
was commissioned to design the label. Jordan is an interdisciplinary artist based in Boston. You can see more of Jordan’s work here
From a vineyard that gave us its last drops of wine, Via Ottimista is our way to share our passion for California Nebbiolo. After a long aging in oak casks, this limited wine is available to you now. (1600 bottles produced) Concentrated and bright garnet in color, the Via Ottimista offers aromas and flavors of violet, rose, tea, and red fruits undercut by savory herbs. It is a great introduction to the Nebbiolo grape. Via Ottimista Nebbiolo 2013 is delicious and accessible wine. Please share with friends and food!
