Hvar, Croatia

The Zlatan Otok vineyards are spread between three locations: the southern slopes of the island Hvar, the Makarska vineyards below Mt. Biokovo, and vineyards in nearby Šibenik. The Hvar vineyards grow pošip, bogdanuša, maraschino, and yellow muscat. In the Makarska vineyard, they cultivate Plavac mali, Crljenak (Zinfandel), Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. The vineyards are surrounded by fields of lavender, rosemary, and olive groves. The climate is a natural deterrent to pests, so no chemical intervention is needed. This island winery features a marina and a restaurant with an underwater wine cellar. Since its founding, Zlatan Otok has achieved success in a numerous national and international competitions and exhibitions – they were twice chosen Croatian Winemaker of the Year.
