Bravante is a small family-owned winery on Howell Mountain. The unique climate and rugged soil conditions found on Howell Mountain are they key to consistent achievement of excellent wines from this historic appellation. Warm days and cool nights in the summer give rise to a wonderfully balanced chemistry within each tiny berry. As autumn comes to the mountain, a slight temperature inversion consistently appears, raising the overall temperature and resulting in ripeness that unleashes the bold flavors and structured tannins for which Howell Mountain is famous. Sparse well-draining soils of volcanic ash and gravely loam work in conjunction with the unique micro-climate to produce small quantities of extraordinary fruit per acre. These estate properties were cut from virgin forest to create state-of-the-art vineyards. Selection of the appropriate root stocks and clones in conjunction with the most advanced farming technology available combine to with the prime vineyard sites to produce wines of outstanding character and terroir. In 2007 Bravante Vineyards was named Winery of the Year by Wine & Spirits Magazine.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain
Aromas of plums, and cassis, with added hints of sage, cedar, and vanilla. The flavors include berries, cassis, sage, cedar, and vanilla. The full body is balanced by the smooth tannins and acidity that carries the berry and cassis flavors to the long finish. This wine will improve in the cellar and be enjoyed for the next 8-10 years.

Trio, Howell Mountain
Primarily Merlot blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, this young mountain wine has the mineral edges to its tannin that Howell Mountain often gives, with a wild blackberry fruit clarity to relieve some of that tightness of structure and a mouthwatering balance between umami and sweetness. This needs several years to evolve, or several hours in a decanter before serving. Try it with grilled Portobello mushrooms stuffed with herb seasoned ground veal!
