Hector and Pablo Durigutti are the winemakers behind the Aguijon de Abeja wines. Both have backgrounds that are quite complimentary: Hector started at Alto Las Hormigas at the age of 15 and learned new world techniques and agriculture while Pablo started at La Rural, a winery now owned by Catena and learned traditional oenology and viticultural practices. The wines show generous fruit but without excess, New World fruit with Old World elegance, a trademark of Durigutti. The two brothers are amongst the most well known young winemakers in Argentina right now. The area where the winery is located, is the exclusive resort of Las Compuertas in Lujan de Cuyo – for many, the world capital of malbec. Their vision for wine includes a balanced mix of old techniques with modern technologies applied to achieve the optimal wines of the terroir. Fermentation in barrels, pisonage, yeasts, French barrels, hydraulic presses and concrete vats overs coexist and collaborate with manuals, stainless steel tanks and technologies for controlling temperatures, hot and cold pellicular maceration longer, micro-oxygenation, and pH control selection double grains tape applied to the items of the production minimally invasive gravity. sw-dur-bonDurigutti Bonarda Clasico, Medrano
Current thinking suggests that what is known as Bonarda in Argentina is in fact not related to the Italian grape of the same name, but instead a second Italian grape called Dolcetto, also from the Piedmont. Héctor and Pablo are passionate about the potential of Bonarda in Argentina, and use low yielding, late-picked fruit for this bottling.

sw-dur-cabDurigutti Cabernet Sauvignon Clasico, Agrelo/La Consulta
90 Points "Best Buy", "Exceptional" - Beverage Tasting Institute
Red ruby color with some bluish hints. To the nose, it is spicy and smoky with aromas of red fruits such as blackberry and raspberry. In the mouth, it is robust with sweet, balanced tannins and a velvety finish.
ImprimirDurigutti Malbec Reserva, Lujan/La Consulta
Ripe and racy, with a briary underpinning to the focused beam of raspberry and boysenberry fruit. The finish is layered with mocha and licorice notes. This "big" wine matches sensationally with charcoal-grilled beef.
